Vicor power modules support charging, delivery and conversion for electrified vehicles

With power levels in electrified vehicles ranging from 10 to 40kW, battery voltages have increased to 48, 400 and 800V. Power delivery to the various loads in the vehicle is also changing to 48 from 12V as a means of reducing vehicle weight via reduced power harness size. Power systems engineers should evaluate the use of power-dense, high-efficiency fixed-ratio converters to down convert these higher voltages prior to regulation at the 48 or 12V level.
